Greetings,
Below are the specs of the system I am tinkering with:
Motherboard: 945GCT-M3 (V3.0)
Bios Version: 07/05/22 bios website
Memory: DDR2 Dual Channel 2 GB 266.6 MHz PC2-5300
Operation System: Vista - 32 - Home
Power Supply: 450 W
Current CPU: Intel Pentium D 925 - Presler - Socket 775 LGA - 65 NM - Family F, Model 6 3.0 MHz
Upgrade CPU: Core 2 Duo E6700 2.66GHz - HH80557PH0674M Intel - Socket 775 LGA link to new cpu
Compatibility: cpu-upgrade information
Any other tips to consider before presuming the CPU is, despite being "guaranteed not dead upon arrival," in fact, dead?
Granted, I do not have any previous experience with this. However, I properly flashed BIOS and was under the assumption (based what I deemed :sufficient" research [perhaps not enough]) I merely place new CPU in slot and it is recognized.
Do I have to alter Microcode information? I presumed the BIOS took care of recognizing the new CPU.
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards,
Mark

I flashed the bios with the current bios offerings from ECS's website.
It is registering as version 07/05/22 upon restarting.
Cleared CMOS
Seated new e6700 CPU properly
Verified that RAM, battery, et cetera is seated
