So in my new build that I'll probably never save enough to afford...it seems like a 950 pro is a no brainer to go with a skylake system. The numbers vs say an 850 evo are crazy good yes?

Solution
950 pro is an m.2 drive and much faster, but also more expensive. If it was me, I would go for an 850 evo with more storage space.

I don't think you will really notice that much difference in day to day usage, but that's just my opinion. If you need more speed than the 950 is the way to go.

The 950 pro is a fastser drive, but more expensive drive. I would go for the Samsung evo, it's cheaper, and still has very good read and write speeds. Well, almost everybody have a HDD in their rigs, and few are complaining. And that is much slower than a normal ssd like the samsung evo. So if you are thinking about it, the 950 pro is on a extreme level. if you need the extreme speed of the 950 pro, save up and buy it. I think it is not worth it though.

If your a gamer the 950 pro since its an M.2 will use your PCI-E lanes and it could affect your gaming performance, especially if your have SLI or X-Fire. IMHO its not worth the money so just get an 850 EVO or PRO.

As you can hear, all of us here replying to you, say that the 950 pro isn't worth it. You say that you can't afford it either, so you should get the Samsung 850 evo, it's a damn good ssd. Even if you could afford it, you shouldn't bother buying it. But that is my opinion. I would rather use the extra cash on a better gpu for example.

You can get a 500gb 850 evo on Newegg for round about $200.00 or less. Samsung SSD's are always on sale and are a good bang for your buck.
