Hi guys, I'm on a really tight budget, I just want to ask if the performance gain (percentage) is significant going from 955be to fx6300? I'm just going to play games, all kinds, is the fx6300 enough for next gen games? I'm also getting a new pair of rams and new mb. I can do slight OC if the mb is capable.

Here's my specs:
Phenom II X4 944BE @3.6ghz
Emaxx 880G FXN
2x2gb ddr3 1333
POV GTX 660ti
1TB and 320gb WD HDD
FSP Raider 650w
Cooler Master TPC 812 hsf

Planning to get:
FX6300
Asrock 880GM LE FX
2X4GB 1600mhz (dunno what brand for now, depends on the extra budget)

I'm currently gaming on a 1080p TV but as soon as I get my monitor from repair I'm going back to 900p gaming.

What are your thoughts?

It's questionable whether going to a 6300 is "worth it"
For futureproofing for multi threaded games, maybe.
If you need to keep on a tight budget, do what I did, and buy a AM3+ mobo (a good 990fx one) and put your 955 in it.
Yes it will work.
Then overclock the 955 a bit more, open up the northbridge to 2600 ish.
Which will give you solid performing rig with a good motherboard for future cpu upgrade, while not being horribly expensive.

There is a reason I haven't ran out and bought an 8350 yet, even though I would get more performance , the difference isn't so massive that I "need" to spend the money right now.

You will notice a difference going to the 6300/6350, but it won't be earth shattering. Good 990fx board and going to 8 Gb of...

You will notice a difference going to the 6300/6350, but it won't be earth shattering. Good 990fx board and going to 8 Gb of 1600 Mhz CL9 ram will be noticeable in both gaming performance and general computing chores, letting you go to 8320/8350 in the future, while keeping your costs down.

And give you an upgrade path for the next couple years as budget allows. If you do both mobo and cpu at the same time, you will have to make compromises.

yep, but my case is just for matx, hmmm i think i'll hold off till next month and see how the kaveri performs and expect a price drop on the am3+ cpu's.
