looking to replace the cooling system on the cpu, and I have no idea of which ones are quality and which aren't. Thinking of spending around 50-100$

personally i have a Noctua NH-C12P and i love it... it cools my 8Gbs of ddr3 and set to very low i have temps of 45 idle and 55-60 maxed out... if you have a horizontal case, the heat pipes will provide even better cooling

This one worked for me XIGMATEK HDT-RS1283 120mm CPU Cooler http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835233012
but if you want one with better airflow (louder though) Toms Hardware on their System Builder Marathon on the medium and low end Phenom II based PC's used a similar model but with a higher airflow fan this one

However it's orientated so the air flow goes to the top of the case which was no problem for me since my case (COOLER MASTER HAF 922 RC-922M-KKN1-GP Black Steel + Plastic and Mesh Bezel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case) had the largest fan on the top
