I have a sager laptop with a 4810MQ processor. I have noticed it seems to perform a bit worse then I would like it to, and the fan is nearly always on, so I downloaded HWMonitor. Not sure if I am reading this correctly, but under CPU temperatures, it lists the following as I type this:

Temperature 0 96 degC (204 degF) (Package)
Temperature 1 96 degC (204 degF) (Core #0)
Temperature 2 94 degC (201 degF) (Core #1)
Temperature 3 95 degC (203 degF) (Core #2)
Temperature 4 88 degC (190 degF) (Core #3)

That seems really high as I'm only running chrome with 5 tabs atm. The computer is reliable, however I would like to find out if it is not performing at potential, maybe open it up and try to change thermal paste. However, I'm not sure I'm reading this correctly. Any suggestions, is this normal?

Thanks in advance.

Good job!
I think you are ok and would not bother try to change out the paste.
Laptops are small and hard to work in.
There are too many things to mess up.

Interesting, yeah it is a few years old, I'll look into cleaning the fans and or changing the thermal paste. Also strange, and perhaps unrelated, there is a weird issue where the laptop will not run without being plugged in for more then a few minutes, even though the battery level does not run out. Could be unrelated, any other suggestions?

Ran a passmark set of tests on it.
Passmark Rating 3,049 4 star
CPU Mark 5,982 3 star
2D Graphics Mark 532 2.5 star
3D Graphics Mark 1,601 2.5 star
Memory Mark 2,209 4 star
Disk Mark 4,919 5 star

Looks like average CPU performance is 8659 for my cpu, is that a telling sign, any better tests I could do?

A major issue was the fans alright, I opened up laptop and blew out fans from all sides, and there was some serious dust. Immediately I noticed that my temps dropped and the fan doesn't spin up constantly anymore. It will still idle in the 50s and 60s, and go into 70s 80s. Ran another benchmark and my CPU is up to 8,869, an increase of ~30% from 5,982 and actually a tad higher, if I understand the ratings correctly, then the passmark average. It seems to be changing the paste is likely unnecessary, would you agree?

As a post note, I actually did end up changing out the paste a year or two later, and it made a big difference, thought I would mention that if anyone goes through this thread. It was actually quite easy in this particular laptop.

nice mate, i changed my paste on my 1080ti, dropped from 80c to 58c, its worth keeping your paste good on ya CPU/GPU
