960 evo 3.0 in 2.0 slot

I messed up and put the 3.0 on the 2.0 slot. I plan to move it tomorrow when I wake up will I have to put a new volume on the drive and will it be wiped? or will it be the same just faster speeds?

You don't have to do anything else. Just put in a 4x PCIe 3.0 M2 slot. Only the speed (available bandwidth) will change, you don't have to create a new volume/partition. Good luck.
