Ok so I know my motherboard sucks but it supports speeds of an M.2 of 10Gb/s which I think equals to 10,000MBps and the 960 EVO is rated at 3,200MBps so why is it getting 800MBps when my PC can handle speeds of 10,000MBps? I may be looking at this all wrong and sound like a cool but that's why I am asking for help because I truly do not know. My motherboard is a GIGABYTE GA-H97-GAMING-GAMING 3 and the link is below.

That motherboard will limit that drive to x2 pcie 2.0, ideally you would want x4 pcie 3.0 So yes I would expect that board to limit the speeds of a 960 evo to around what you are getting. Im not really sure what that 10gb/s means to be honest but it is not the max sequential read speed your motherboard will support.

It looks like your MB has one PCIe 3.0 x16 slot. You can get full speed on your SSD by using a PCIe x4 3.0 M.2 adapter card in that slot.

What is that? Is it like something that lets me plug the M.2 into my GPU slot?
