Hi!

So I just recently just installed a 960 SC. I recently just came from a 750 sc. I noticed that on idle my gpu temp is 48-50. Is this normal? Or is something wrong? I have 600w of PSU Intel i5 3550. Nothing else is overheating except the GPU. Anything I'm doing wrong? The fan is also working.

Solution
its fine anything above 85c and you have a problem. thats for load, now for idle it may be a different story. have u tried cleaning the fans or make sure that they are spinning? is it in fanless mode? i so, turn it on fan mode.

If it was on fanless mode, how do I turn it off?

Why would you want to?
It's safe to run you card at this temperature. Yes, if you could disable fanless mode the temps would drop but then you'd get slightly more noise.

I believe it's roughly 60degC to 67degC (varies by card) that the fans come on. Not all cards support this.

Overheating isn't a problem until you get crashing or artifacts due to data corruption but it sounds like you're fine.

Ok. When gaming this card is getting up to 75, 72. And when running speedfan im getting these APMRESUME message received and suspend stuff. Mean anything?
Thanks for your help

Run something that is generally associated with GFX cards like GPU_z and Furmark. Furmark will show the temps on screen and will monitor temps, voltages and indicate when / if the card is throttling. GPU_z' shows this also and the color of the graph changes when card is throttling and it tells you if it's Power or Thermal throttling.

I ran it. It got up to 76c. But it looked like the fan was only on 26%

Found out the problem. Seems the fan isn't running, but when I launch EVGA PrecisionX 16 to modify the fan or just open the program in general the fan starts to turn on. Anyone know to set the fan on without the program? If not thats fine.

Is this an EVGA card ? .... I am not very familiar with the 960s and we haven't used an EVGA card since the 2xx series. MSI introduced the fan cutoff at low temps thing back in 2008, Asus added it this year. The fans don't turn on until temps reach 60-65C. In MSI's case, the two fans are independently controlled... one responds to GPU temp, the other two a bunch of sensors on PCB.

The card begins to throttle at 80C. If you hit 76C on Furmark, your doing just fine as you are 4C below the throttling point and when gaming you should be 4-5C below that.
