960 vs 970 vs 980?

Hi, I am quite confused which Graphics Card to get because im on a budget. My budget is $1200~$1300. I will play games on 1080p and I might do a little gimp editing. I also do editing for my youtube channels(1080p). I will also overclock my Graphics card for an fps boost. I need to get at least 59 fps.

I saw nvidia's video about the gtx 960. They show a fps demo of farcry 4 and first they got 40fps. Then the 960 got overclocked then it showed 59fps but is it true?

Games that I might play: World of warcraft, CSGO, Farcry 4, Evolve, Metal gear solid, Hitman, and dying light

If the 970 is within your budget it would be the best choice. It will is a good bit faster than the 960 and overclocked it will keep up with a stock 980.

GIMP nor youtube editing will have anything to do with your video card. Go for the best you can afford. if you want the most fps, the better you get, the more you'll get.

i will say go for 970gtx you will get everything maxed out easily on your 1080p display . don't get the 960 its not that great for its price and never get a card according to its overclock results in reviews - you never know if you can get same result - i have 970gtx the gigabyte g1 version and iam not even close to reviewers results when i try to overclock it my self . many guys have different results too on that case it always varies - sorry for bad english

I have to agree with most of what others are saying. The 970 is a lot of card for the money. I just don't think you would be satisfied with a 960. Of course the 980 is slightly better than a 970 but is it worth the extra 160 bucks for your needs? Probably not.

I would get the 970 as the extra performance gain for the price is not worth it.

I purchased the 960 and soon returned it for the 970.
