Dont know if you are aware, but ati cards seem to be adversely affected by remnents left by detonator drivers. To completely remove detonators, you need driver cleaners from driver heaven. Other option is a clean install. By the way, if you go back to nvidia, the cats will cause your nvidia card almost as much trouble.

describe your system, it's not much use unless we know what products you've added the R9600P to. In and of itself, it shouldn't do that, it doesn't on mine.

- You need a licence to buy a gun, but they'll sell anyone a stamp <i>(or internet account)</i> ! <A HREF="http://www.redgreen.com" target="_new"><font color=green>RED</font color=green> <font color=red>GREEN</font color=red></A> GA to SK

I have had no major problems with them yet, save that Fast-writes problem I mentioned. I like the layout better (more 3d tweakish) however the OMEGA comparisoin by driver heaven has made me worry about overclocking my card with them, (until I read it only affects the R300/350 series and not the RV350).

The funny thing is that DH's tests revealed that their ATI CAT 3.8 drivers ran cooler that the 3.7, and the only monitor issue I've heard of so far was a beta tester and they still haven't found out if it had anything to do with the CATs.

Anywhoo, if it blows up, just a perfect reason for them to send me a brand new R9600XT as an upgrade (to show their goodwill of course  ).

Pfft a 9600XT. If ATI's drivers blew my card up, I would want a 9800XT!

Alright, here goes some, if not all info. that some of you requested.Oh!, and I got another blue screen of DEATH, it said: device driver stuck in an infinite loop. problem with device or device driver programming hardware incorrectly. (ati2dvag) another thing I noticed is that there is a primary, (AGP,) and a secondary,(PCI,) driver setting, when there it is clearly in the AGP slot, whats up with that?!?! Im just saying I dont think I need both right? Anyway, THANKS VERY MUCH to all who looked at my post and took interest in helping out:)!!! if I missed anything lemme know!!======================DISPLAY ADAPTER INFORMATION======================

GGA, I couldn't agree more. I've attempted to play the crap outta all the games I have in my aresenal just to test these puppies out. I've come back unscathed each time.

From my seat, these look like the most stable drivers from ATI yet.

That's caused by leaving your previous driver installed and installing it over the top. The previous version recognized the monitor...this one did not. He needs to use driver cleaner and then reinstall.

It's root is in the registry...but driver cleaner will take care of it for you.

Once, again, THANKS to all. hmmm...Driver Cleaner, where can I get this? (hope its free:) anyway, needles to say I only have one 9600 pro, and one monitor. OH!, and another thing, the card, Nvidia Geforce2 mx/400, came pr-installed with my pc. I had uninstalled the 9600 Pro, and put back the Nvidia, and lo and behold my system recoginized the Nvidia right away, without having me to install any type of driver. as opposed to the 9600 Pro, I got a pop up saying there is a new VGA controller which it did not know.so maybe and hopefully removing that completely will fix it no? so where can I get this Driver Cleaner? Many THANKS to ALL!!!! Here is what ATI Customer Service replied:Reagrding the Infinite loop error:

Please try the suggestions below.

The "Device driver is stuck in an Infinite loop" error message is
usually the result of a system communication problem.

This error message does not occur on all systems configurations.

The following suggestion may help to correct this issue:
Please ensure that you have the latest Bios update for your Motherboard
and test your system.
Make sure you have an adequate power supply.
Disable or enable AGP fast write and test your system.
Set your memory settings in the BIOS less aggressively and test.
If the above suggestions did not resolve your issue please contact your
motherboard manufacture to obtain the latest chipset drivers.
