[SOLVED] 9600K and Z270, does it work together?

Hello everyone!

I was wondering, if I could upgrade my cpu and I am not sure, if it's gonna work together, because it's an older motherboard but the i5 9600k has the same socket as the i5 7600K does (1151). Is it even worth to upgrade? Imo yes, but again I am not sure about it's compatibility. Thanks in advance for any advice and have a nice day!

No.
They aren't the same socket either.
6th and 7th gen + 100 and 200 series mobos = LGA 1151
8th and 9th gen + 300 series mobos = LGA 1151 V2
Unknown why the V2 is omitted, but it still causes confusion, even today.
