Question 9600K vs 9700K vs Ryzen(??)

Hi guys,

As i'm building a new pc for myself.
I'm having troubles to choose which cpu i'm gonna pick.
As i don't play the newer games , i just need a "esports ready" pc.
The only games i really play are Fortnite, CS:GO, World of Warcraft and Rainbow Six Siege, and sometimes Sea of Thieves.
Now i play fortnite and csgo on the low settings most of the time, because i became used to it.

But now my question is, i'm going to order an Dell Alienware 24 Inch 240hz screen together with it.

So i wanted to ask which cpu will fit my needs the most? Will a 9600K paired with an RTX 2070 Super give me 240+ fps on low/med settings in those games? Or do you guys think i have to go for a 9700K just to be sure?

This should help. The 9600K will more than do the job especially at low to medium settings and the 9700K will be better for the long run...numbers below on CS-GO though with a 1080 instead..the 2070 will just add some more..

So i should go for 9600k? As the i7 is 130euro more. But will it give me 240+ fps in fortnite too?

CS:GO is notorious for its bias towards intel CPUs so having an i5 9600k or i7 9700k will give you the best performance in that specific game.
but for your specific needs like e-sports titles a 9700k with a 2060 Super should do good (its basically a RTX 2070 at a price of a RTX 2060). probably even a 1660 Ti should do the job well enough.

also if you play in low settings at 1080p its basically useless to get a powerful GPU since most of the work will be sent over the CPU, so its more ideal to get the 1660 Ti.

you could also consider a 8700k over the 9700k.

240fps on AAA tiltles is almost impossible even at 1080p id assume, i have a 2070 which is a 2060 super and in games like destiny 2, diablo 3, Anthem, borderlands 3, Monster hunter world (hi-res pack) with most settings turned to max with motion blur off and shadows set to medium in all of them i still cant break 150fps, worse for MH:W and anthem which i can only do 80-90fps.
but for esports games it can easily be achieved by a RTX 2060 super. (cs:go for example) or as ive said 1660Ti.

but if you tone the settings down to low-medium the GPU plays a smaller role meaning with
9700k + 2060/2070 super vs 9700k + 1660Ti you wont see much difference, possibly even no difference between them since the CPU is getting the work done and is bottlenecking the GPU as such your FPS in low to medium has to do more with your CPU of choice.

bottom line is you can probably go for a 9700k with a 2060 super and play on high settings in almost all of your games so you really wont "waste" your 2060 supper.

The 8700k is another good option, depending on pricing, in your area. If all you are doing is gaming, the 9600k would be fine, in those titles. Ryzen and the 8700k/9700k would be a better idea, if you wanted to maybe stream gameplay, or do some kind of actual work, that can take advantage of the extra cores/threads. They would also be better, if you decided to play more modern titles.

how are you only getting 150 on destiny 2? are you playing on 1440?

i have a i7 8700k at 4.9Ghz and a 1080 TI on fortnite im capped at 240 FPS never really drop any frames unless its end with lots of people

how are you only getting 150 on destiny 2? are you playing on 1440?

nope i use a 1080p monitor, i used to scale the in game resolution to 150% (which somehow mimics 1440p) in destiny 2 which dips my fps down to 70-90'ish which i didnt like.
but for maxed out settings with motion blur off i do get 150-ish fps with destiny 2, its not that demanding compared to MH:W or Anthem.

And would it be possible to have 240fps steady with a i5 9600K and a RTX 2060 super?
Cause the 9700K and 8700K are 130-140€ more than a 9600K.
Im the person who only play esports titles like wow, csgo, rainbow six siege and fortnite.

i dont think so, you'd be looking at 212FPS, unsure how much frames you'd sit at thought, tbh google it type in
i5 9600K and a RTX 2060 super benchmarks etc youll find good info on each cpu
