9600PRO or 9800SE-MOD

Would poeple suggest buying a 9600PRO or a 9800SE with SOFTMOD

Most 9800SE are just 128 bit, so softmod is not that great. If you want to try (at your own risk) look for 9800SE 256bit. But I have heard of 50% chances to get full 9800 performance.

Sure shot? 9600Pro

What is your budget? That can help in some suggestions ...

Sure 9800 non Pro is too expensive? I heard they overclock close to Radeon 9800 Pros.

Abit IS7 @ 275 FSB, VAGP @ 1.65, OCZ PC4200 RAM @ 550Mhz, P4 2.4 @ 3.3Ghz Vcore @ 1.625, GeXCube Radeon 9600P @ 450/626.

You can overclock them all you want, but if the softmod doesn't work the most you can hope for is Radeon 9600 PRO performance... at a much higher cost.

It all comes down to wether you're a gambling man or not. And if you can afford to lose.

I was talking about the Radeon 9800, (not pro, not SE), don't those have good price/performance value and OC well?

Oh hell yeah, a 9800 non-pro is an amazing card for overclocking the core.
