Ok, my issue is that i bought a FX 8320e, which is supposely compatible with my motherboard(asrock 960gm-gs3 fx), but i've had problems with the vrm temperatures and experienced several times thermal throttening, so im gonna give the CPU back.

As a temporal solution while i save money enough for buying a new PC, i'd like to adquire a phenom ii , which should be fine due to the fact it is older.

But will it be? I saw a second hand phenom ii x4 965 near my area, but i dont want to get it and have the same problems with it. Whats more, will the top phenom ii be totally compatible (x6 1100t) with my MoBo as well?

Thanks for the help

P.S: my power supply is an UNYKAch of 500W (<language> of psu), i got a cooler master cpu cooler(dont know the model sorry) and a gigabyte hd 7770 1 gb.

P.S.2: sorry if i commited any mistake, im spanish xd

If you have a chance to get a Phenom II X4 965 (BE?), that would be a good CPU to use for now. I have the BE version @ 4.0 GHz in one of my PCs. It is still a decent gamer with my GTX 960 FTW at 1080p. But there's no reason you can't use one of the more modern FX processors listed. Are you saying you had thermal throttling even at stock speeds? Are you sure it wasn't just some cores idling under low usage?
