I am looking to upgrade my older pc for the wife and kids for gaming, (skyrim/fallout, etc.). i currently have an older dual core AMD cpu installed, (2.40 gigahertz AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4600+)

The motherboard supports only 95w CPU's
MOBO: Board: K9N6PGM2-V2 (MS-7309) 2.0
Bus Clock: 200 megahertz
BIOS: American Megatrends Inc. V10.6 10/27/2011

This PC plays these game so-so, my win experience lists the cpu as the weakest link at 5.3 where everything else is 6.9 - 7.8

Current system;

MSI K9N6PGM2-V2 (MS-7309) 2.0
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ Windsor 2.4GHz Socket AM2 Dual-Core Processor
G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM 800 Mhz
SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 6870
COOLER MASTER Hyper TX3 92mm CPU Cooler
RAIDMAX HYBRID 2 RX-730SS 730W PSU
Seagate Barracuda 500GB
SAMSUNG 830 Series 128GB SATA III MLC (SSD)

My question is which of these would be better suited for gaming?

Both of these ARE supported by my MOBO

Thank you in advance and have a sunny day 😀

Thanks for the quick response :) i wanted to shy away from a used CPU, but i gotta do what i gotta do, huh?
That was my choice in the 1st place but have been finding it difficult to find a new 960t sadly, but i wanted a little feedback before i ordered it used from Amazon this morning.

I want to upgrade the MOBO to something a little (lot?) newer but don't really want to purchase a new OS for a new MOBO, (OEM win7/64)

Anyway, thanks again and happy gaming 😀
