[SOLVED] 970 EVO PCIE

When I installed my 970 EVO three months ago it was running 3.0 x4 and speeds were as advertised and I never bothered to check again until last night I noticed in Samsung Magician it showed 3.0 x1 and speeds were ~900MB. I moved it from the bottom m.2 slot under the heat sink on my motherboard up to the slot behind the GPU and it now shows 3.0 x2 and speeds are ~1800MB. Both slots are 3.0 x4. The GPU is running 3.0 x16, so if I understand correctly it is using the lanes from the CPU and the SSD uses the lanes from the motherboard. I don't have any other components that would be taking lanes from the SSD. I don't know much about PCIE lanes but I searched last night and this morning on this site and others and haven't found a solution. It might be something simple but any help is appreciated. I'm just a gamer that came to PC about a year ago so I'm learning as I go. Any other issues I've had I've resolved by Google searching which mostly led me here but this one I cannot figure out.

You just have to set it x4 in the BIOS. It's in the advanced menu, under "onboard devices configuration".

Strange , never had to set it manually.
