Question 970 evo vs 980 vs 980pro (budget)

Is there a noticable difference between them?
Should I go for 500gb or 1tb?
It would be used in my future system as bootdrive and maybe some games.

i7 6700 non k (2015)
Z170 gaming a msi (2015)
16gb ram ddr4 2100 speed (2015)
1tb, ssd (for games) (2022), spare 1,5tb hdd (2012 but not in use anymore), 240gb ssd (for windows) (2015)
XFX rx590 8gb VRAM (downvolted) (2018)
Corsair rmx 750w 2021 (2022)
Fractal design meshify 2 (2022)
Display: LG 24GM79G 24inch 1080p 144hz (2019)

Future (looking to play this in max settings at 70-144fps/hz): aaa games like Horizon Forbidden West, GTA 6,...

If you're going to migrate to the future system listed at the bottom of your thread, then you're find to go with any PCIe 4.0 SSD, since they will be backwards compatible with the slot on your older board, just operate at lower speeds.

34 euro's in between them. Not much, so yea, might as well go witht he 980 pro

For that difference, and potential future use, I'd probably go with the 980 Pro as well.

But do temper your expectations. Your daily functions wouldn't be finished in "half the time".

980 pro 1TB is 69eur,
980 non 1TB pro is 59eur,
970 evo plus 1TB is 43eur

wd blue 2TB is 80eur btw

I have one of each and can not tell a difference between the 2 loading games etc....
Only in benchmarks is the 980 pro twice as fast. in real life usage the difference is unnoticeable.

Wd also good? WD Black SN770 1TB M.2 SSD is gen 4.0 cheaper and also has good speed.
Kingston kc3000 also a good option I think
