I was about to upgrade to a Gtx 970 (second hand), but then i read somewhere that the upcoming 1060 will be more efficient than even 970. and almost the same price as a second hand 970(i can manage a lil bump).

Is it true that 1060 will b better than 970 ?

coz i ll have INR 22,000 to spend and cant decide whether to wait for 1060 or just go with 970.

I'm getting ready to buy an EVGA GTX 1060 SC Edition soon. I just got my Power Supply today and can't wait to get the gtx 1060... It's tough, but because of the fact that it's rumored to be as powerful as a 980. I'd get it. (In case you didn't know 980 is better than the 970) Also, recently there has been a lawsuit against Nvidia for that exact card. Stating:

In February 2015, several people filed a lawsuit against Nvidia, Gigabyte, Asus and EVGA over the inaccuracy of the specs of the GeForce GTX 970. Yesterday, the case was settled, and even though the four companies didn’t admit liability, those who file a valid claim for their GTX 970 GPU will receive a $30 cash payment.
The original lawsuit claimed that Nvidia, as well as the other three companies, posted false specs for the GPU. The advertised specs for the GTX 970 had 4 GB of VRAM, 64 render output processors (ROP) and an L2 cache of 2.048 MB. The lawsuit claimed that card actually had 3.5 GB of VRAM, 56 ROPs and an L2 cache of 1.792 MB.

not really sure about ROP and L2 cache (these two normally don't even get advertised by nvidia official spec but just info given to reviewer when they discussing the architecture detail) but the card really did have 4GB usable. if the memory utilization cannot exceed 3.5GB i think they can claim the card as only having 3.5GB but it is not like that since games still can access the last portion of the VRAM.

If you google stuff like the gtx 1060 vs. 970 the gtx 1060 is better. Although, the GTX 1060 beats the 980 in 1080p gaming, but in some games the GTX 1060 falls a bit short of the 980 in 1440p gaming. I'd still say get a 1060 because in my opinion, i can deal with 1080p and don't care too much for 1440p. Obviously, if you want complete gaming buy a GTX 1080, or if you're like me and don't have that much money then save for a 1060 or 1070 if you can find a good deal.
