tittle really does ask the question. gtx 970 or a 1060 ? i have a 970 and thinking of upgrading but i havent got much money. will i notice a diffrence if i upgraded from the 970 to a 1060?
No. You won't notice much unless you game on 1440p 144Hz. If you game at 1080p 60Hz then you will get 0 benefit. 970 and 1060 are close competitors and not a step up.

Unless you play Vram intensive games (3,5 vs 6) where you will certainly notice how much smoother the game will be and a bump in FPS
(For exaple in rise of the tom raider Jayz2cents review) the extra VRAM helped in the game to be more fluid and stable and at the same time having more fps

I do watch and respect JayzTwoCents...and I never saw him comment on stability in that one game. If he did, was it at 1080p 60Hz? More VRAM helps the higher the resolution.
About stability not in his review generally cause you know what happens when you run out of vram right?
So you cite a good youtuber then you add a comment to make it seem that he said that!? wow. Hats off to you for showing how not to cite sources. Don't make up information. Stick to facts. The 970 is still really good at 3.5gb VRAM, especially at 1080p, it is awesome!
I just said that jay said that the FPS were way more with more VRAM
And I added that from my personal testing i have noticed that if you run out of vram the gameplay is not very smooth
About 1080p on 3,5gb vram.... My friend was using his i5's Igpu and upgraded to a 4gb 960 ( i have the 2gb one) and he tested it with msi afterburer and gpu z ( i told him how to do it) and he told me that Black ops 3 ( his only good/modern game) Used 3500mb of vram... And i had tweakd his settings to have locked 60fps. So I am not very sure about the 970 which can handle way better settings how well it will be with 3,5gb
These are just things that i noitced your experiences may vary
