I was thinking about getting the 970 PRO GAMING/AURA. The user manual recommends a power supply that complies with ATX 12V specification 2.4. I have a Corsair TX750M and only complies with ATX12V v2.3 and EPS 2.91 standards. Do you think it is ok to use that power supply with that board? Is there anything wrong with using a lower standard number than what the manual says? I looked at 3 or 4 other motherboard brands and they didn't list any power supply standards. Is that unique to Asus? I have some RAM from my older board that I was going to try to use in it. Patriot Memory 1333EL Series is the memory. It's old but do you think it will work?

Are you asking if I am building a new computer? If so no I am not. I have a old outdated motherboard. BIOSTAR N68S3B. It is from a cheap barebone I got. My other computer died unexpectedly without notice or warning. I needed something cheap and fast. The motherboard drivers can't be updated. Over time I upgraded. I got tired of the onboard video so i got a video card. Not long ago I got a SSD. Samsung 850 EVO. I cannot even get the full potential from the SSD because the motherboard BIOS doesn't support or have the features for SSD. I can't use all my hard drives. I have 3 hard drives, SSD and a burner. I wanted to get something that might last me till I do a new build. I was planning on getting a new motherboard and CPU. For the CPU I was looking at the FX-8350. I was wanting to use my other parts. My memory, video card, hard drives, power supply. Might get a new case. Was looking at the Fractal Design Define R5. I could use that case for a newer build too. Any suggestions for a case is appreciated.

I was looking at the FX-8350. Any suggestions for something different is welcomed. My current CPU is AMD Phenom II X2 550 BE.
Where can you get the TPM module for the 970 PRO GAMING/AURA?

That case is my personal favourite.
If you are looking to get a new MB + CPU, i wholeheartedly recommend that you forget about that dead AMD platform and switch to Intel. Getting teh latest Skylake might mean having to sell your RAM and getting DDR4, but it's well worth it. Alternatively, Haswell would serve you well aswell. What GPU do you have and what do you use your computer for?

GeForce GTX 750 Ti. Some gaming. Some video editing. Browsing the net. I plan on doing more gaming though.
Can I get a i5, motherboard and memory for about the same amount?

Didn't think you could get all 3 for that price. I also looked at the GA-B150M-Gaming. I compared both and the GA-B150M-DS3H looks like it's better. Is it? Why DDR 2400 instead of 2133? That i5 should do way better in most games than the FX-8350 right?

If it were't better i wouldn't recommend it, no? :)
2400 because it happens to be cheaper. But if you click the full link it will show you what's cheaper today. Right now it's some 2133.
The i5 will wipe the floor in all, not most, games with the 8350. It's only in some synthetic benchmarks that the 8350 catches up to the 6500 even if it has twice the cores.

I see that lol and ty. Now I'm looking at all the different chipsets and they say if you are not going to over clock and maybe want to expand, look at H170 chipset. I did and fount the GA-H170-D3HP. What do you think of that motherboard? Gigabyte seems to be pretty good. From my looking around it seems that Gigabyte offers feature rich motherboards at good prices. I don't know what to think of ASRock and I don't fully trust MSI. I think Gigabyte is a good choice if you want something cheaper but still good and something that will last. Do you agree? I assume the same RAM will work in it?

Yeah GB offers great bang for buck. And that board is also good, as also includes an M.2 slot a 4 RAMM slots. Go for it!

The Asus Z170-K is one step above the Asus Z170-E right? Here is the budget $350 for the CPU and motherboard including shipping and taxes. Gigabyte GA-Z170-HD3P looks close to Asus Z170-K as far as hardware wise isn't it? I know Asus is better though.

I think I will go with the Asus Z170-E. I looked at the manual and cleared up some things. The specs on that board listed on websites and even Asus site is wrong. According to the manual it supports XMP and has 3 PCI express slots not 1 like most sites say. There might be other wrong listed specs.

Again, i recommended the E for a reason. Go for it 😉

350 exactly.

On second thought, while having a z170 is fine and dandy, having 16 gigs of ram is more important, seeng as it does fit the budget. You're not overclocking after all.

Why not? It's not like you invest in these things yearly. Do get 16 giogs of ram aswell.
