970 to 1070

I've been considering this upgrade, and there are a few factors.
1) My 970 is reference, and also the fan is kinda broken and loud.
2) I play Overwatch and want a constant 144FPS for 144hz.
Is it worth the upgrade? I feel as if the 1070 would be a card I wouldn't have to upgrade for a WHILE....

The 970 should easily run OW at 144 fps on low settings. Ultra settings are just distracting for a competitive shooter anyway.

it is a substantial upgrade, depending on your settings you should be able to achieve 144 frames with the 1070.

Yeah but I would like a nice balance between alright and butt ugly.

It looks the same, just without the distracting lighting, reflections and shadows that just makes it more difficult to spot and pwn newbs.

yea good point. it's just that my current 970 fan is broke, and the 1070 would be my last card for a while

I guess you don't want similar performance as the 970 (RX 580/ GTX 1060), so 1070 is around 30% better. Personally, I play OW at low settings with a 1080 ti, with some adjustments for 300 fps max performance. If you want to play other more demanding games, I'd say it's worth it, but for OW... I dunno.
