970 vs 780 pure fps, varying results and statements!

Hi guys,
I currently have a 760 and have been meaning to upgrade. Lets just say, yes the 970 is a great card and all, but there are some super tasty deals on ebay for 780s, e.g. evga sc 780 for £220.

the 970's are more expensive and i know they are more power efficient, more futture proof, but get rid of all of that i want to know what will deliever the best FPS now. Ive watched vids and some say the 970's fps is better, and vica versa. Ive heard the 970 is better at higher res's and all sorts of crap (or it might be true haha)

Does anyone actually know what should deliver the higher fps, cheers

The 780 TI is a little better then the 970 with most games on some (mostly newer) the 970 will pull ahead.

The 970 is better then the 780 is every single way.

I agree with this, but remembering that this is not in USA 220 could mean 325 USD

Alternatively, you could get a R9 290x for even less and it will beat the 780 at most things:

ye well the 780 im looking at is the evga for £205 or the SC version for £222. and for a 780 i feel like that is a steal, and froma 760 the 780 would be soo much better i guess

GTX970s seem to be getting cheaper in the UK - http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Dcomputers&field-keywords=gtx%20970&sprefix=gtx+9%2Ccomputers

But it almost seems like GTX780s are getting more expensive.
