Do you think that I will get enough performance from one of these new cards to equal out the price they are? Or should I just wait longer for a better card?

You can look at my sig for the current card I have.

Thank you for your help

Well i don't think you can get fast enough*, your system is great, just still make sure you play at at least 1280x1024, with some aa/af.

Forget that the 9700 Pro is nearly as fast as the 9800 Pro. Forget that it can be hacked to enable "new" 9800 features. Forget that it's faster than most NEW cards, and think about this: It's 2 years old, it's history, nobody wants it, and they don't care how good we "think" it performs ("think" is relative to the fact that it really does perform well, but they suppose the facts are different without actually looking at them).

Well from looking at your oc results, Id wait till the PCI express platforms are out. The 6800 and x800 series will be too much for you on that machine and wont get the full power of them. I just hope that you have good HSF on your 9700

I wouldn't change your GPU. Unless you have some hundreds of $ to burn ... All people that bought 9700Pro at the beginning have done one of the best investments IMO.

Still looking for a good online retailer in Spain :frown:

Do you have some links for the hacks to enable the 9800 features? I have no problem staying with this card, but I do have the money and if does help out the performance for games and the picture quility, then I will buy it. But if it is not much difference, then I will wait. I am also looking to upgrade my system. So far it looks like I am going to go with amd over intel.

I have a water cooled system that I have connected to my 9700 pro. I just don't have anything on the ram, that is why it is clocked so low.

Considered putting ramsinks on the RAM. I got some OCZ ramsinks on mine and get up to 400 on the ram without issues.

400 Mhz on the RAM?! On a 9700 Pro? What brand of card are you running? Mine will only do 345 (up from 315). The core runs great at 420 Mhz, but even at 345, the memory will eventually cause artifacts.

Oh sorry about that, I meant on my 9800pro. with 9700pros, anything above 350 is a good show.
