Question 9700k 100% usage during games\chrome

My CPU caps out a lot of the time and i'm not really sure why.. at times it causes game stutters and I really should not have issues. Not fully sure what info you need so here is a screenshot of the top processes:

Just close Google Chrome?
Not sure why you need that - and 54 tabs open while playing games - that, combined with a game that wasn't well optimized at launch.

Boy that is a lot of Chrome pages and Chrome is such a memory hog...Also be aware that there was a recent Windows 10 update that caused high CPU usage..just double check:

when I have 3 Chrome tabs open, I have only 345 MB of RAM tied up...

What on earth are you doing with/in Chrome to have 8 GB of RAM tied up? 100 chess games? Even browser tabs use/require resources...

I have about 30 pages open in Firefox and those use almost 6GB of RAM. Looks fine to me

The weird thing about it, is that's with only like 10 chrome tabs open.. even right now I have 13 open but it says 75

Seems like most were subframes... any way to help prevent some of those?

Whoops, the number must be how many tasks the browser is running. I have 17 tabs open, and task manager has 11 next to Firefox.


Just... close them? That's the simplest way. The game uses over half of your cpu's resources by itself... you can't really afford to run a bunch of other tasks like that in the background.
Or, just deal with the chokes when the game demands more resources with your cpu being unable to provide.
