Okay so I bought the EK Nickel + Acetal and the backplate, I got no thermal pads with the backplate so I had to get some from the company that I bought it from then when I now tried to install everything I had way to less thermal paste so there isn't enough for the long strip on the backplate, can I install it without it or what should I do?

Solution
seems odd that a company like ek sold a item with out any documents or install instructions then with out all parts needed to do the job ??

for the bavk plate should be the same [ would not be surprised if ek supplied evga's ?

don't ek have a support download page to get a manual like I gave from evga ???

just need to get your model used ?/

then like from ek site

Enclosed:
- EK-FC980 GTX Ti Classy KPE Backplate - Black
- Mounting mechanism
- Thermal pads

so the one you got was used or a open box missing all the installation parts that should be included...

'' I now tried to install everything I had way to less thermal paste ''

only thing I know that requires paste is the gpu processor chip ?? you sure don't want that stuff to ozzz off in to something like the VRM's or anything like that and short things out if conductive

I forgot [check your model ]

Enclosed:
- EK-FC980 GTX WF3 water block
- mounting mechanism with screw-in brass standoffs
- thermal pads
- thermal grease EK-TIM Ectotherm (1g)

Sorry I was really tired when I wrote this, I ment thermal pads ofc. I did fuck up and the company that I bought the backplate gave me new ones. I do not have enough but I have for the VRM's + the gpu chip. Not the strip, also my backplate EVGA 980 Ti ACX 2.0 SC+ It only had thermal pads on the VRM and chip, will it be enough like I have it?

well just do as it shows in the evga I never had need to add a back plate as extra thing , all I can say is do it like the instructions that the company shows for the product . all should be easy to down load form like ek .. if they recommend and show a pad in a spot I would feel safe to say it needs one there that's all you should need to do . you can still buy thermal pad material from a lot of places like frostytech or newegg heck you can order it through walmart

https://www.walmart.com/search/?query=thermal%20pads&cat_id=3944

just do it as they show even if you need to order more of the correct pads https://www.ekwb.com/shop/EK-IM/EK-IM-3831109830581.pdf

you don't want to cut a corner and something shorts out or what ever then it all on you
