980 Ti idle temps high

I upgraded my OC'd GTX 970 to a 980 Ti (no overclock, but much better memory) and noticed a distinct change in temps. Where my 970 sat at 38 (max) centigrade on idle, my 980 stays around 55, sometimes up to 67 on idle. What gives??? How can I keep this cool? I'm afraid to play GPU intensive games on it because it runs so hot already. Is this normal?

Hello

From what I can gather this is a hot card, but those temps are a bit high. It is going to depend on your case, ambient temp and cooling on the card. A lot of cards with air coolers tend to run hotter because the fan speed is still low. They tend to favor low noise above heat. Try turning up the fan speed.

Here is also a link to temps of different GPUs including yours: http://www.anandtech.com/show/9306/the-nvidia-geforce-gtx-980-ti-review/16

Hope this helps :)
