Hi everyone, so i got a evga 980 ti and am running it at 1278mhz core clock and in a lot of games i just dont seem to get the fps i was expecting and compared to videos i see of other people playing same games it seems really low, couple of benchmarks at 1080p
borderlands 2 - fps drops to 40 with phyx off and no aa
witcher 3 drops too 35 fps with everything, including hairworks on and no aa ( in videos same card and same resolution ive seen 980ti not drop below 60 :/ )
heros of the storm - no aa and physx off drops to 30 in teamfights and feels super choppy
crysis warhead game plays around 40 - 55, max settings no aa

now some of these just seem kinda low especially the warhead one since ive seen a vid of someone playing it with the same card and max out + 8x aa and they dont drop below 80 fps :/

now my system is a i7 970 @3.8ghz
16gig ram
windows 7

ive unistalled old 780 ti drivers i had using ddu and didnt improve ive set the power to max in nvida settings and windows, only thing i can think that is causing this is the cpu, but i was told it wouldnt bottleneck? also gpu usage in around 95-99% in all games

thanks for checking out the thread any answers are appreciated

Friend, trust us when we are all saying it is your CPU.

Sorry, but you will need to update the CPU (most likely the MB and RAM too) in order to see FPS gain with the GTX 980 Ti.

Right now you are trying to put a Racing Engine into a PT Cruiser and wondering why you can't win the race. It might be a good Racing Engine, but slow Transmission/Clutch/Air Intake/Exhaust/etc.
I can share with you right now, it's your CPU. You have a 1st Generation i7 that is several years old. Your CPU is 5 years old already and the GTX 980 Ti just released.

I had a Q6600 (Quad-Core 2.4GHz) with a AMD 5830, before I got my full upgrade to the system I have now, all I upgraded with the CPU (and MB/RAM since I had to) and gained 15-20 FPS right there. Then when I added the GTX 970, well it was just a whole different world.

So the GPU is not your issue, it is the CPU...time to upgrade friend, sorry wish I had better news.

the thing that is so annoying is i am getting huge fps dips in all games - borderlands 2, 120 down to 40, crysis warhead 90 down to 40, hots 90 down to 100 and prob worst of all in fc4, 110 down to 30 in places, are the drops because of the cpu because the max fps is really good but these drops are killing gaming for me atm

fps stayed around the same, also on gpuz my core reads 1300 on hwmonitor it reads 500 and mem 3600? which one is right lol
