980 Ti Power Consumption

So, I'm looking at gpus and psus for a first build and I think I want the seasonic g-550w. The prolbem is that everywhere says the 980 ti needs 600w. I know you can run it on a lower power supply and they're simply guide lines.

But, when you look at the specs for the msi gaming 980 Ti it says 400w. So, would I be safe with 550w?

Well, I think I want a skylake i5 overclock-able, 16GB ram, 1 HDD, and 1 SSD pretty much.

Then you will certainly want more power and a solid PSU...no doubt about that!

I think I might go with the 750w version.
