Hi. I'm sure some experts could help me on this here, thank you in advance.

I have an Asus 980ti strix oc. The 0db feature means no fans under 60c, thats all good. But on GPUz, fan% is always at a minimum of 20% and this percentage would increase as gpu temp increase under load, rpm however would remain at 0 though, confirmed with visual that fans indeed do not spin under 60c. HWmon reports the same. I am wondering, why is this so, 20%-35% fan speed under 60c but 0 rpm. is it a problem with certain components on the graphic card?

On a sidenote, what is the effect of turning off the 0db feature on GPUtweat? does it make the fans spin up on idle? i do not have this software installed.

Lastly, this card also gets to 80c or 82c during gaming, is that a bit too high as all reviews seems to have this card max out at 75c or so. I am not using the max oc setting just going with the gaming settings (1190mhz).

Thank you again for reading and any advises or wisdoms anyone could share.

I have the same problem with my quadro 4000, goes over 90 degrees. You need to have a proper cooling system. Proper intake cpu fans and exhuast fans.

Stock fans won't help, you need 2000 RPM fans.

Let us know your cpu fan setup.

i think my cooling system is ok. 2 intakes in front and 3 exhausts back and top, brand new coolermaster 120mm, not case fans.

i am more concern about the gpuz saying 20% fan speed when the rpm is zero. Any thoughts please?

Download MSI Afterburner and put the fan speed on auto and on user defined fan speed that means when the GPU reaches a certain degree lets say 40 degree
the fan speed gets up to 40 and on my Zotac GTX 980 ti I've never seeing the degree over 63 hope this helps.

Well temp of my quadro 4000 is running at 85 degrees while in the after burner my auto settings fan is running at Max 40. How do I change this in the user defined settings? What kind of numbers I have to put there?

Lol I had to select the user defined radio button and now my card is showing temp of 62 down from 91.

Thanks man, this helps a lot.

Will the same settings work for a R9 390 sapphire GPU, as it has 3 fans?

thanks Samet90, for the speedy and helpful respond.

not able to do what you suggested right now since i'm at work but will be trying it soon as i get home.

by the way, is afterburner better than GPUtweak II or are they just similiar and there are no differences to using either?

Not much difference but I preffer msi afterburner :)

I'm certain it will work for the most cards

Thanks man.

Any idea as to why gpuz and hwmon would report a fan speed of 20% to 30% on the GPU with 0rpm on auto? Staring at the fans themselves they are not spinning, as the system is under 50c on idle.

I guess it must have something to do with the 0db feature. But shouldn't that report 0% fan?

Well it is working when I am viewing videos or other stuff, but when playing any game, the temps are soaring high to 96 degrees. When user defined auto control was not enabled it would go to only 91 degrees.

How do I control that high temperature?
