I currently have a 9800 gt, and I play on a 17'' monitor. Will it be worth the upgrade to go for dual 9800 gt or maybe the 4850. My other stuff is pretty descent so it would support any of these 2 cards. And I like to play om medium to high settings. PLeaz help

Well a single 9800GT would be fine for a 17" monitor since the max resolution is 1280x1024(on most of them)and there is no need to go SLI.
Also a HD 4850 wouldn't give you a good boost in performance,i say if you are happy with your card don't upgrade it otherwise options like HD 5770 would be good

I'd say go for it if you can find a cheap 9800GT. I think alot of people are unloading them on eBay so they are plentiful at low prices.

(2) 9800Gt's in SLI would completely stomp a single 4850.

Ok thank you all,but which one of the following: 2x 9800 gt,4870 or 5770. wHICH ONE WILL PERFORM BETEr,also will you see a massive diference between the best one out of those 3,and the current one i have the 9800 gt,single. On a 17'' monitor.

Get the 5770, it's a nice future-proof card that should hold it's own. Also, in the future if you decide to get bigger monitor, it'll still handle it... not to mention the prospect of crossfire.

Get the HD 5770 for the DX11 support. It will only get better with new driver updates as well. It will have the best support for the latest games.

Go for sli pay no attention to others since I can say that first hand. People say this and that but just go with your gut feeling. Two 9800gt in sli hold really well in most games that benefit from sli and crossfire. Just be sure they are clean and you have a good psu. Overclocking them yields a nice boost. If you card isn't as good as the other in overclocking then in riva tuner set the top card to clocks that you know that work and select the section card and set it to clocks that it works best. That is right clocks don't have to be sync.

OK,don't pay attention to others, try googling and read some reviews and you will see that for resolutions like 1280x1024 and lower,SLI is an absolute waste.
So if you go with dual 9800GTs on a 1024x768 resolution, you won't see the full potential of SLI,so its better to get a single card instead.
Here is a good chart which compares single vs SLI with 1024x768 resolution:

Most games cap your FPS at 60, and if your on DVI then your stuck at 60 anyways.
A 9800 can run most if not all games at 60 fps or higher with that resolution.
Adding a sli is irrelevant.
Clocks dont have to be in sync? What the hell ... Yes they do otherwise the faster card is automatically bogged down with Rivatuner or not. If they go out of sync by manual settings then you will just crash your PC. Simple as that.

@OP, you dont need a secondary 9800 at all. So unless you will be upgrading to a monitor with resolutions higher then 1600x1000 you dont need to upgrade your GPU. I wouldn't listen to nforce4max.

Thanx, haha I willl wait to after christmas before I upgrade, but I want to know if i want to play games like gta 4 and crysis on a 17'' monitor and play these games at 1280x1024 at high or max resol.,what graphics card will do that. Is the 9800 gt fine for that ? Or would you preffer something else. Thanx all 4 the help

Enjoy playing on low to medium settings and getting hammered later on if you were to get a better display. I don't know about you guys but I like playing crysis with 32XQ sli AA with all maxed except for shaders and in fallout3 no need to worry with such aa setting.

tanx... Just another question...
Do my gpu perform at his max...

I have a 350 w psu do I need to get a higher one or what. Some people tell me no and others tell me yes?
