i have nvidia 9800gt card for about 2.5 years with Corsair 450 vx psu.had also installed driver 270 version and it was running fine for a couple of months.
But today all of a sudden while entering into any game the display gets clumpsy and system freezes so has to be manually restarted
I am able to play videos and others.only while entering games trouble starts.
I have done a few things 1.downgraded my driver to182.06 and fan speed100.still problem exists.pls help

Whenever i enter a game it just freezes and display gets clumpsy and which in turn require manual restart. But am able to play videos and do other operations in the system.Only while entering games i face this issue. So i think its better to replace the card
maybe you just need to clean the dust from your card's heatsink/fan because its overheating.

it sounds like its overheating under stress. you already have another thread regarding this topic. you need to get a temperature monitoring program like HWmonitor. Check the GPU temps under load, i bet that is the issue. You will need to clean the dust from the heatsink/fan and possibly re-seat the heatsink with new thermal compound. then if you get it going you can spend the money on a cpu/motherboard upgrade because your CPU is bottlenecking the crap out of your 9800gt.
