I am running tv output on my 32inch sony trinitron and when the color on the screen is dark I can see small white flecks dancing around the screen.

Is this just the way ATI tv output is?
My NV (GF3) had about the same IQ but didnt have the flecks.

My first idea was to replug in the svideo cable which did nothing, now I'm going to replace it with another svideo cable.
Also, whats up with me not being able to output any videos to the TV anymore?

I was used to watching my divx films on my tv from the PC.
Some kind of macrovision protection?

Any ideas on the flecks or how I can get my videos to output?

edit- No macrovision protection or whatever. I figured out how to get the tv to get video files and it works great.

I'm still getting flecking on the tv.

Ok I got both problems figured out now.

Sorry for the post, I'd delete it but I want it in the history for people to be able to search for if they encounter either problem

My fixes were

1. In the Overlay tab of the Catalyst drivers there are some extra options, you can choose to output in "theater mode" which seemed to fix my problem with no video output to the TV.

2. The flecks, or flickering were due to the svideo cable.
I replaced my old one with the one ATI supplied and the flecks were gone.
It could have been a poor connection but I did not check that first since I had a 2nd cable.

I must say, the Radeon has 500% better TV output features and function than my GF3 had.
This is a odvious statement but I hadnt tried tv output on a radeon before.
Certainly up there with the best tvoutput available.

This almost makes up for their crappy TV tuners and suprising amount of features that refused to work on those.

Congratulations. The flecks were probably caused by electronic noise, your ATI cable probably has better shielding.
