I am planning on upgrading at the end of the month, and I was wondering how big a performance increase the jump from non-pro to pro gives you? I COULD afford either, or the 9800xt if its that much better, but if I get the 9800 np I could upgrade my cpu and mobo sooner(currently a athlon xp 2000 with 512 ddr333 running at 70 FREAKING DEGREES C).

any thoughts?

Not much, maybe 10% or so, off the top of my head.
Nothing obvious to the game player anyway.

Remember too that most 9800 non-pros can be overclocked to pro speeds...

hmm... looks like the 9800 has the lead in my mind so far. why pay for a pro if I can just clock the 9800 to pro speed?

Yeah I have the same questions... What makes the 9800pro better then the non-pro?

Am I correct in assuming that the 9800non-pro is superior to the 9700pro ???

yes, 9800 nonpro beats the 9700 pro. The difference between 9800 pro and nonpro is clock speed.

But you can BIOS flash a 9800 into a 9800 pro if you are lucky.
