hey i am running 2 evga 9800gtx+ graphic cards in SLI mode and after 20 min or so (or 3d graphic test in 3dmark06) pc turns off. But if i only run 1 card without SLI i do just fine. Was wondering if anyone knows or has same problem and knows what to do. I read about my motherboard and reviews said the 650I had poor cooling, so that might be overheating, but i have no clue. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Im running.

Windows XP 32bit
abit fatal1ty fp-in9 sli board.
RAIDMAX HYBRID 2 RX-730SS
Q6600
2gb HyperX DDR2

Please explain why you think that, because rated for 550 supply...i have 730 with 12v-24amp like the card says it needs sli says 30...can 6 amp really make me not have enough juice....hmmm

Minimum of a 450 Watt power supply.
(Minimum recommended power supply with +12 Volt current rating of 24 Amp Amps.

thats for a single gtx. add another gpu + cpu + fan + harddrive + mobo stuff.

Whoa. That is blatantly wrong. The 24amp rating is for the whole system, definitely. 24amps across a 12v is 288 watts, about what an HD 4870X2 takes up, so it certainly can't be that many for just the card. That's also why one card says it needs about 24amps and SLI needs 32amps (I don't have the #'s with me), if it were rated for just the graphics card, SLI requirements would ~double.

But to the OP, yes, 6 amps can be enough to make or break a system/PSU. But your PSU has two rails, both supporting 24 amps, so it should be enough power.

How's airflow in your case? What do you have for fans?

i have 6 120mm fans, custom case with 4 on top row 1 side in onther out, it is ICE cold,my room is freezing, and bight blue. the cards hit 55c and53c when it turns off. cpu is also low when this occurs, only thing i can really think of is the bios because board kinda old and i use a year old bios update (nothing newer i can find). Also i read a review about my board saying the 650I thing had poor cooling. so that might over heat.
