So I want to buy a GTX 980ti for my system with:
I5 2500k @ 4.2ghz
msi p67a gd65
2x4gb DDR3 1333MHZ
XFX 550w 80+ Bronze
1x Corsair Fan
2x HDD
1x SSD
I'm wondering if my pc will be suitable to run it, currently I'm using an OC R9 280 so I think it shouldn't be a problem

The card I currently has a tdp of 225w I believe it should be Ok but are there any other choices for a gpu that offers the same performance at a lower tdp? The Gtx 980ti is around 210 dollars / 190 pounds

I would be hesitant to do that with an older design of power supply. The R9 280 was a 200W card (maybe the OC version a little more). Jumping to 250W is over a 20% increase in draw from the video card. I'd advise against risking it.

A GTX 1660Ti would perform about in the same range, and draws around only 120W, but will cost more.
