980ti or 2 way sli?

Is it better to get one 980ti or is there another 2 way sli graphic cards I can get for a cheaper price and same performance.

Two 970's in SLI will get you to approximately the same performance, but that won't save you money over a single 980 Ti. Go for one 980 Ti, if you game in 1440p or 4K. For 1080p gaming, you could maintain with a single GTX 970. Check the links below to verify that your power supply can handle whichever card(s) you choose.

980ti will be more stable in the long run.
In my experience SLI only offers headache after headache.

So 980ti is the better option however if I were to already own a 970 and added another one to make it a 2 way sli then the 970 would be a better option. But in my case I'll go for the 980ti . Thanks for help guys.
