Hi Forum,

at the moment I have a EVGA gtx970 ssc in my machine with a 750 power supply, and a simple i5 ( I don't remember the exact gen of it but I know there is nothing newer.) I was thinking about upgrading since games like fallout 4 and battlefront will be coming out soon. My main question for you guys is should I just go out and buy another gtx970 ssc or should I try to sell my 970 and go straight for the 980ti (please explain the reasoning). Also would I need to upgrade my power supply or cpu for either of these options?

Thanks for the help, I greatly apreciate it.

Brian

For a second 970 you don't need to upgrade your psu.

Two 970 cards will be inferior to a single 980 ti. However, it will not be nearly inferior enough to warrant the loss of money you will incur from selling your 970. The two 970 cards will still perform awesome.

awesome response and I love you profile picture, I freaking love fallout! About the sli though the one thing that is holding me back is that a lot of people say a negative of sli is that games don't support it. Is that a valid issue or not really anything I should be worried about?

Thanks

Thanks! most newer games will support it. i would say don't worry about it. Worst case scenario, the ones that don't support it will still work, but only take advantage of one of the cards. sli has its downfalls, but not enough so that you should switch.

cant wait for fallout 4 man...

"a simple i5".... that implies to me that you probably have an h97 motherboard that doesn't support sli. do you have a z97 that supports sli?

i personally would take a single 980ti over two 970s any day. 970s would definitely be faster but the cost of more power use, more heat, sli driver profiles, and microstutter. and obviously if you have an h97 then you cannot even use two 970s, but you can definitely use a 980ti.
