980ti vs. 980ti w/ Backplate

Hello.

I'm purchasing a 980ti SC from EVGA with an ACX 2.0 cooler. There are two options; one with a backplate, one without. I'm not familiar with the advantages and/or disadvantages of backplates vs. no backplates. My case, and NZXT Phantom, has great airflow and all of my temps stay within safe limits even under heavy load, but I've heard that backplates can help reduce temperatures somewhat. However, from Amazon a backplated 980ti takes nearly 1-2 months to ship as opposed to normal shipping times of a standard 980ti.

My question is this: is a backplate worth the wait?

Backplates don't make any performance differences. They are fine to help a heavy card stay rigid and they look good. That's about it.

They can add very slight cooling for the back of the card, but nothing substantial, as well as wat i7Baby said
