I have a 980ti graphics card (I just upgraded from a 770) and my power uspply is only 475w. I researched it and found that the 980ti recommends 600w PSUs. When I just turn my computer on, I can normally use my browser, discord, flash games and watch youtube videos. However, when i try to load games like overwatch, h1z1, or smite, when parts get graphically intensive, either my computer screens turn black and I can only hear audio (discord still functions so its not turning off) or it WILL completely turn off and restart itself. I'm wondering if this is a problem that would be caused by a weak PSU, because I will buy one if necessary if there seems to be no other fix. Thanks for the help.

Yes those are symptoms of a PSU problem. Also I cannot think of any 475w PSU that is decent quality which is just as important as wattage. Even a decent 475w would be a problem with a 980Ti.

I would not use the pc until the PSU is replaced with a good quality 600w or greater. If your PSU completely fails due to being overloaded it could damage other parts of the pc including gpu.

Thanks! its nothing special just a dell stock PSU...oops

Yeah Dell use the cheapest, lowest quality units they can get away with. They are not terrible but are not good either. Also chances are the 12v rail is nowhere near 475w, its probably more like a 350-400w unit.

Please stop using it until you put something better in there.
