Hello! I have a palit geforce gtx 1660 super gp oc gpu and i want to buy a new cpu. I was looking at either the intel 9900k or 10900k, will they not be too powerful for my gpu? Which one should i go for? I have 16gb of ram if it helps

Solution
From your earlier post i assumed you were in the US.

i could get an asus prime z490-p with with the 10900k cpu and cooler master hyper 212 rgb cpu fan for about 650$ or an asus z390-p with the 9900k cpu and the same cpu fan for about 550$

... but then you state

My budget will be about 600-700€

which leads me to believe you are in Europe where prices are not necessarily indicative of the below listed prices:

asus prime z490-p is under $170 (sometimes as low as $150);
Intel 10900k is $519 (can be found as low as $500); and
cooler master hyper 212 rgb cpu fan is useless for the above CPU.

For $650 this bundle is not a deal in the US (but it might be in your area), and Z390/9900k will be a step down from your...

It's not so much a question of your own local internet as a relation to ALL the other people hitting those servers with their new gaming equipment.

A decent cooler will transfer to other CPU as well in many cases and do better than stock.
Oh, ok, yeah that makes sense 😂 ok, lets say i buy an aftermarket cooler, keeping in mind that it would also go on the new cpu, whichever one i get, what cooler should i buy?

Your case supports a maximum of 161mm for a CPU cooler. You could go with Noctua NH-D14 for a standard cooler, or I'd go with a 360mm AIO (also supported by your case). Corsair, NZXT, Asus, EVGA... etc.

You have to let your budget decide, but the Noctua listed above is among some of the legendary best coolers and is a bit more expensive. IMO would not even consider an AIO unless you up the power in the CPU a lot, like that 3700x, for instance, or higher. The reason I listed the Hyper 212 and others is they work well and are inexpensive. You should check on clearance to be sure, but the Enermaxx is the smallest of those three that I have used.

Well, right now i am actually thinking of getting the 3700x and the aio, but then again, what do i do with my gpu? If i get the 3700x and the aio, i dont think i will have enough left for a new gpu.

So lets say i buy the aio, the cpu and temporarly stick with my gpu, this would be the setup:

Cpu- amd ryzen 3700x
Mobo- msi b450 a pro max
Ram- ripjaws cl18 3600mhz 2x8gb
Psu- cooler master mwe v2 650w 80+
Gpu- palit geforce gtx 1660 super gp oc
Ssd-crucial p1 m.2 1tb
Cpu cooler - corsair hydro h100i rgb platinum

Look good?

The r5 3600 is producing a 6.8% bottleneck on my gpu on 1080p, about 8.8% on 1440p and bit more than 10% on 4k. The 3700x is producing even more bottleneck, at 9.5% in 1080p (calculated with pcbuilds bottleneck calc)So whats my best move here?
Best to abandon 'bottleneck calcs' quickly...(something is always a bottleneck, and, technically, every CPU that is not a 5900X/5950X is at least a partial 'bottleneck' at 1080P...; at the opposite end of the spectrum, anything not a 3090 is at least partially a GPU bottleneck...)

Anything 3600X and up should prove very pleasant, with the 5800X bordering on 'perfect for 3-4 years minimum', IMO...

Nvidia 2070 would make your PC a solid 1440p high fps gaming machine. That gpu will be a used-market only item unless you stumble into left over inventory somewhere. In my opinion, AMD RX 6800, Nvidia 3060ti or 3070 are great choices once the stock/prices normalize.
Ok, thanks for the help, really appreciate it!
