[SOLVED] 9900k or wait for 10nm?

I currently have a 7700k at 5.0ghz 1.32v and a 2080ti but I’m not sure if I should get a 9900k now or wait for the 10nm cpu that’s rumored for the end of this year?

Also would a 750w psu be enough for a 9900k overclocked and a 2080ti?

Or take a look at Zen 2 from AMD. Some benchmarks from CES showed an engineering sample supposedly beating an i9. Leaks show that some of them are supposed to be around 5ghz. Things are just speculation now, but it looks very interesting.

Unless you are wanting to begin a hard-core streaming career, where admittedly 4c/8t can struggle somewhat, the 7700K still does quite well in the large majority of games...as evidenced in this '7700K revisited' review at GN...

As I also have a 7700K, I intend to wait until there is at least a game in which the performance is left wanting (sub-60 fps?). As I've had this system almost 2 years, I'd not be surprised if I get 2-3 more years from it, frankly. I'm sure by then we will also be evaluating the GTX3060, etc...

(Naturally, someone rocking a 2080Ti might want 144 fps in some of the newest titles a bit sooner than me, so good luck whichever way you choose!)

Up to you really, if the current machine is running fine then stick with it.

Yes a good quality 750W PSU is plenty for a 9900K and RTX 2080Ti
