Just got the PC running. I've turned on MCE only and my CPU is running at 1.344V in idle and 1.416V when running Prime95.

Just to add, it fluctuates from 1.344 to 1.355 quite a bit while idling

Is this a safe voltage for it or should i manually lower it?

I thought the rule of thumb was don't update bios unless something is wrong? Do it anyway?

Not always, update and compare 1st.

You can always go back to F3 if needed.

So i lowered it to 1.3V and when i ran Prime95 it was sitting at 1.244 for some reason. After a few minutes i bluescreened.

So - I switched LLC from auto to "Turbo" as suggested in Gigabytes PDF for overclocking. This time i ran Prime95 27.9 with avx. Test ran for 10minutes. Temps were 96 degrees at load and 40 degrees idle. Voltage was consistantly 1.31V which i am happy with. But damn, that's a toasty CPU.

Will those settings make much difference in gaming or should i just play it safe and go stock?

Run Prime 95 vers 26.6:
