990X or 990FX?

Do I save a couple of quid and get the Gigabye 990X-UD3 or do I get the 990FX-UD3?
Using an FX-8320 and overclocking it as much as I can so what is the better performance to pound?

The Gigabye 990X-UD3 is a considerably better board. If you plan on overclocking and/or going dual GPU cards, then it would be worth the extra cost.

The 990x board is cheaper than the 990FX.... These AMD chipsets confuse me, which is the higher end?
I will probably be running two XFX 7870 XT's at some point only due to the price to performance of the cards

The 990FX is the highest end AMD chipset. It has better overclocking abilities.

So do I spend the extra and get the 990FX board or save some cash and get the 990X I am not looking to overclock to the absolute limits of what my CPU can handle just a decent overclock say 4.2 max

Then you will be fine with just the 990X

DO NOT get XFX Tahiti cards, they are REALLY bad, they are cheap for a reason.
