I am looking to spend around 2000$ Canadian on a new gaming PC including the monitor. i was planning to get one a few months ago but decided to hold off.

My goal is to play the latest games on high/max at 1080p with at least 30FPS and for the games in the next 2-3 years on max too.

Also want something easily upgradable or more future proof. I also want something that will be cool, the last gaming desktop i had was like a heater in my room.

Solution
I definitely agree with Mas7873, go with a i7 4790k if you plan on upgrading after 3-5years. A GTX 980 is also great for long term builds, a bonus would be to put it in SLI.

2 X 970's and a 4690k to keep them on a short leash(in a good way). :)
Edit= added a 1080p monitor.

If you want "future proofing" then you may be interested in the 4790k, however in gaming it performs similarly to the 4690k so you can save money there.
This PSU will also allow you to add another GTX 970.

The case has a fan controller built in and extra wires to connect the fans to. Chose i7 simply because you have the budget that can afford it.
