Question a 320 pro vd/s ryzen 2700 or 2700x

Hello,
Currently my PC is
Mobo msi a320m pro-vd/s
Gpu 1060 Geforce 3gb
16gb ram DDR 4 2x stick 2667mhz(due to different manufacturer of ram units running only on 2400mhz)
PSU 550w

I considering swap of CPU for a long time as ryzen 3000 series is not fully compatible. I have 2 other candidates and that is Ryzen 2700 or ryzen 2700x.
I use PC mainly for gaming basically. 1080p only. Games like Battlefield 1, Battlefield V, Ark, Atlas, and so one i think my current CPU is being botlleneck for the rest of my build.

I have read many times that my Mobo has weak VRM s, hovewer i am not sure if they would heat up that extremly if i do not intend to overclock CPU anyway, so i am not sure if my mobo would be cable to handle ryzen 2700x.
Also 105 TDP it seems quite a lot for my mobo or Psu? What is your opinion.

Ryzen 2700 it seems like a better fit as it has only 65tdp. Hovewer i am quite scared that 1 core is being only 3,2 ghz which seems like not very powerfull.

My point is to have the best possbly CPU available as price diference is very small, so i have no problem with price of ryzen 2700x. Question is if my setup is good enough for this CPU.

I understand that my mobo is not the best but i want to change CPU only not buying new mobo as well.

The 2700 performs very well and should meet (exceed) the needs of most users. What CPU do you have now?

Hi, Why you said your mobo does not support Ryzen 3xxx?

According to MSI web page you need to update BIOS to atleast 7A36v2J.zip, and you should be ready to go (https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/A320M-PRO-VD-S#support-cpu).

All you need to do is follow the BIOS update instructions, if you have a really old BIOS, you should update your chipset driver first. You can download chipset drivers from AMD webpage https://www.amd.com/en/support/chipsets/amd-socket-am4/a320.

In any case, I woulnd't go with anything higher than a Ryzen 5 3600.

hmm interesting last time i have checked there has been only bios beta for ryzen 3000 support.
Also my mobo supports only 16mb chache and ryzen 3000 are 32mb can this be issue?

Why do you said your motherboard support onlys 16MB L3 cache?, In the web page from MSI I linked it said it does support Ryzen 3xxx cpus.

What makes you think CPU cache is an issue? The CPU compatibility of your motherboard was liked earlier. You just need to ensure the needed BIOS is installed BEFORE installing the newer generation CPU.

Personally, I would stick to a lower TDP CPU on this particular motherboard. The aforementioned 2700 and 3600 would perform nicely, I would think.

On the first link I posted, and if you open this link you posted, go to Compatibility -> CPU and you will see a list of all compatible CPUs with your mobo. AMD Ryzen 3xxx is there.

Is in fact BETA version, should i be worried to use this bios? Or should i rather use ryzen 2700? Instead of 3600?

I tend to not recommend Beta BIOS releases unless they resolve a specific issue. I don't see much of an advantage to pick a 3600 over a 2700 for this config. The 2700 will perform well.

Eventually i have bought ryzen 3600. I have updgraded Mobo on bios 7A36v2J.zip . PC boot up perfectly on first try i am using only first day but it seems no issues what so ever.
So if anyone is having same Mobo you are good to go even with Ryzen 3000 series.
