Howdy to everyone!

I just bought a nice new computer. First everything was fine, i play alot of counter-strike:source, fps was 299-300. Now the fps dropped to 30-100, and i have discovered that the corespeed of my processor is 2000.0, and multiplier 6x.

Its intel core 2 duo 8400, the clock shoud be 3000.0 and 9x. I think the processor is in idle mode or something, and i think i should update my BIOS, but i cant find any updates for the motherboard i have (Asus 775 LGA P5Q PRO). if i start packing a file into a RAR, the clock goes to 3000 for sometime, but gets back to 2000 immediately.. this is annoying and i have speedstep disabled and tried to disable C1E also... buff.. what should i do o_O

Did you have a power outage or anything like that? I know that sometimes my BIOS will reset if we have a bad electrical storm and the power flickers a lot. You'd think at this point I'd finally buy a UPS.

But why would you disable SpeedStep? It's made so that it can't hurt performance, but only save power.
