Hi guys, I was thinking of building a PC, and had the following components in mind:

GA-H81M-D2V Mobo
Intel i5 4670K CPU
1Tb hard drive
Nvidia Geforce GTX 770 GPU
Corsair 650W PSU
16Gb RAM

I'm trying to max out most games I play (on 1080p), and I was wondering if you have any advice at all (I've never done any of this before). Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Everything is excellent with your build except for the mobo.
Its not a Z87 mobo. Since you're getting i5 4670k(which is a K-series CPU) you must get a Z87 mobo. Because Z87 mobos are for over clocking. And if you don't get that it'll be a waste to buy a i5 4670k.
Also, if you're tight on budget, get the MSI Z87 G41 mobo. It'll be best for you.

And if you're going to avoid overclocking, get the i5 4430, which is a non-k CPU and cheaper of course and will safely with your current choice of mobo.

amanchandra, thanks for your reply- I'm not looking at overclocking right now, and I was wondering whether the i5 4440 is an option alongside the 4430. Not totally sure what difference it would make! Cheers

+1 for the i5 4570!

8GB RAM is plenty.

Try for B85 motherboard at least if not H87.

Make sure you get a 80+ psu from a reputable brand.

You know it's easier to just give your budget and let us present you with different build ideas.

My budget is around £800! I'll have a look at the 4570. By the way- as I have said, I have never built a PC from scratch. Would you guys recommend I give it a go, or should I just go on a website where I can select the components and have a professional build it for me? Cheers guys, all your help is much appreciated.

Cheers for the clarification :)
