A coin hit the top of my gpu and pc died.

Hello so I opened up my computer case to put a little fan and i coin hit the top of my gpu and my computer hang and i turned it off. When it boots up the video display is not showing so tried in my in mobo and it boot up. So my question is did the coin short circuited my gpu? Please help.

can tell you it was not "my computer hang and i turned it off"


Yes it is very likely that you need a new GPU now. Also you should never be messing with anything inside a pc that is pluged into a wall. just a big no no

You just learned an expensive lesson. NEVER work on your computer while its on and running.

You need a new GPU, you shorted this one out.

No the little fan the i was talking about is a electric fan thats almost the size of my computer. Since the pc case is open and there was a coin in my mouse pad when i hit my the coin it went in my pc and hit the top of my gpu then my computer froze. I was not installing a cooler 😀

There is a reason PC cases have sides and the fan holes are small in them.

Yeah but my gpu and cpu is getting a high temp so i tried to remove the side cover and point a fan to it haha fml

Next time you should try and figure out the cause of the temperatures, and also try and shut the PC down and clean it out first before resorting to such things.

Maybe you need a new case with more fans, leaving the case open as you can see can be dangerous for your PC's health.

Yes it did, and the fix is time to buy a new one.

well to double check it you can try the card in another pc. or try a different card in that pc if you have one.
