A CPU Upgrade

Hi

First post on this site. I currently have an A10 5800K CPU and was just wondering what would be a good upgrade from this.

I don't intend to upgrade yet, but it's just something I'm considering for in the future.

PS: I use my computer mainly for gaming.

It is still modern and no noteworthy upgrades available for that socket. Changing platform on the other hand can be an upgrade.
Correct time to discuss this is when you are ready since than we may have more options.

Any worthy CPU upgrade would require a new motherboard. What is your current graphics? That is often more important for gaming. CPU wise, I would look into an i5 4570 with an Asrock B85 pro4.

I guess it is far too early to ask, but I'm just really curious. :3 And yes, I plan on upgrading the motherboard too when the time comes. I was looking into the i7s the other day...

My graphics card is an EVGA Geforce 760 GTX

Then a 1230v3 or i5 4570 with a B85 pro4 would be a good fit with your GPU.

Thanks, I'll make a note of those. I take it the i7s aren't worth it then? How good are those CPUs compared to the one I have; how big is the jump?

it depend, if you going to upgrade 2 years in the future, an i7 might make sense.

I read something about games not taking advantage of the hyperthreading technology at present...

They do use it if the games use more threads than the # of cores, ie i3 have 2 cores with HT

The 1230v3 is an i7 without igp, but costs a good deal less than the 4770, while performing similar to it. Either of those would be a big jump over what you have, and a much better fit for your GPU.

P.S.: Thanks, like yours too. I can't place the anime yours is from though. It almost looks like Black Lagoon, but not for sure.
