Hello Everyone,

I have gone to the trouble of upgrading my laptop cpu. It is a Toshiba c855d-s5209 with a AMD A6-4400m cpu. I wanted to upgrade it to the A10-4600m which should be possible. After doing some research, I made sure that my BIOS was up to date, which was version 6.20. Everything seemed to go fine and it actually booted up the first time. I let windows install the drivers for the new cpu and it asked for a restart so i did. After that it never booted up again in normal mode. I went to safe mode and uninstalled the drivers and restarted. Again the laptop booted up. This time I installed the drivers through the AMD auto-detect software. After restarting, same problem. The laptop won't boot. It doesn't seem to like the drivers. I don't know what else I could do.

Any suggestions?

Solution
Possible drivers issue or windows issue.

To clean drivers:
Use this http://www.guru3d.com/content-page/guru3d-driver-sweeper.html
And follow instruction :
Use the official uninstaller(s) of the driver(s) you want to uninstall.
Reboot your PC in Safe Mode.
Run Driver Sweeper and select what to clean.
Analyse lists all the entries possible to remove, cleaning removes the entries selected.
Reboot to normal mode.
Install fresh drivers.

Sometimes windows do not like changes and you need install fresh windows * ( in most cases need format HDD to do this)

How looks CPU temps ?

Hey DeathRabit,

thanks for the reply! I have tried installing and reinstalling drivers so reinstalling windows 7 is my only other choice. Microsoft isn't making it any easier because the digitalriver has been removed. I need to get a copy of an install disc somehow. The only way Microsoft has it now is giving them a RETAIL key but I only have an OEM key. Why microsoft why??

Well I contacted the cpu seller and they were kind enough to send me a replacement. This cpu worked instantly with absolutely no problems. So I think that it was the CPU from the beginning. Thank you for your help!

Faulty CPU, and booting working in windows probably iGPU was damaged anyway way rare case, most faulty CPUs do not even boot ;)
